How to make hair grow faster better?

i try not to have it break off whn combing in buts its so irritating its like i comb all the way through and and it has no tangles then 5 minutes later when i havent even moved at all its soo tangled like almost matted why does it get so tangled? its kinda curly but no really really curly just like in curls the size of your thumb. i get tired or brushing out the tangles so i just rip through it cause its soo irritating. would that make it grow slower? and how can i make it grow faster? and keep it untangled?
