Is jealousy always a part in true love, or can you love somebody and let them be free?

I was wondering how people feel about or experience this in their lives. I think the ideal would be that if you truly love somebody, you let them be free and let them do whatever makes them happy in life. Even if that involves being with somebody else. Because true unconditional love also includes endless respect for that other person and their feelings and experiences. Is this realistic, or is it like, it's always easy to say and imagine that it would be fine, but if it actually happens, jealousy would overwhelm you? I don't like the feeling of jealousy, it's so destructive... Jealousy to me indicates some sort of possessiveness that you are trying to express over the other person. And this isn't a very nice thing to do, because it captures them and this isn't respecting their freedom. Your thoughts?
