Career decision Help?

If you want to be a pilot, then be a pilot. Don't let the economy make your career decision for you. We will always need pilots. No field has very good 'security' when the economy is taking a downturn. If you are worried about this aspect, go into the military for a few years, finish the training that you need, and get some perspective. It's not something that I would do, but I have some friends that really enjoyed thier time in the military.
