USPS priority mail shipping question?

I have a package that is supposed to be delivered to me today, the status is "Arrival at unit" to a city that is less than 10 minutes away from me. Does this mean that I am going to receive it today? Also, with priority mail does the mail carrier deliver to the doorstep or does he/she just leave it in the mailbox?
